Coaching question and personnel at Eintracht
Hütter comeback at Eintracht remains a topic – Club confirms restructuring of coaching staff
At Eintracht Frankfurt, the first personnel decisions have been made at the transition of the season – at least in the immediate environment of the team. The Bundesliga club officially announced on Friday evening the immediate departure of assistant coach Jan Fießer and athletic coach Martin Spohrer. The separation was by mutual agreement.
Immediate departure of Fießer and Spohrer – a cut with signal effect
According to the club, Jan Fießer and Martin Spohrer are leaving Eintracht with immediate effect. Both sides have agreed on a mutual separation. For the club, this is a clear cut in daily training operations, because especially the athletic area and the assistance in the coaching team are directly involved in load management, weekly planning, and detailed work.
The two personnel cases also stand for different periods in Frankfurt: Fießer had been part of the coaching staff since 2024. Spohrer had been working on the Main since 2016 and thus shaped the physical orientation and load management of the professionals over many years – in a phase in which Eintracht experienced great sporting titles, including the DFB Cup and the Europa League victory. The club thanked them for their work.
Head coach question remains open – Hütter as a name in circulation
Beyond the confirmed changes, the focus in Frankfurt remains on the head coach question. Recently, media reports have also discussed a return of Adi Hütter. An official decision or confirmation from Eintracht is not yet available.
This is precisely why the now announced restructuring of the staff is more than a side note: Changes in the assistant and athletic team are often an indication that the club is reorganizing its sporting structure for the coming season – regardless of whether a coaching change is actually imminent at the top or an existing constellation is being adjusted.
For now, only one thing is certain: Frankfurt has created facts in the coaching and support staff. Everything else will have to be measured by how Eintracht ultimately sets up its sporting management for the coming season.
